# One – Install Ubunu

This is my most recommended top tip for your old pc. Install Linux on it and have a mess around, it might just make you switch to one of the most powerful OS around. Unbutu also comes with great community help.

# Two – File Server

Everyone has files that they need to keep safe and need to share around the house. Put your old pc under the stairs, get it hooked into your network and set some folders to advanced sharing. If you want to do this properly I would install some backup software, I recommend 7 Copy.

# Three – Media Server

Got a large TV downstairs? Why not install iTunes onto your old pc, get it hooked into your TV downstairs via HDMI/DVI and use your old pc for watching the latest HD move tiltles or just listing to your Legally downloaded music.
